3W is a different kind of race company.
_ 3W races differently. Our partners don’t pay us to participate. That’s right; we do things differently.
We believe in making partnerships with local businesses and welcoming them to meet our racers because they have something to offer to our racers. We only partner with local business owners. If your headquarters is in New York and you’ve got managers running your stores in Colorado, you’re not the fit we’re looking for. If you’re a local franchise owner, you fit the bill just fine. If you are a small business owner who has set up shop right here in Colorado – it is EXACTLY your business that we want to promote.
We desire to make our immediate area a more desirable place. This is where we all eat, shop, learn and play. This is where we LIVE! Our races aim to achieve a few things:
· We introduce LOCAL businesses to our racers.
o Be introduced through face time on race day or a product sample. There are many ways to drive more business to our local partners. Let’s find a way that makes sense for YOUR business.
· We impact LOCAL, humanitarian charities.
o We raise money for local aid organizations through our registration process, but most importantly we raise awareness and in-kind donations from our racers and your patrons while promoting our events.
· We promote wellness in the community.
o We want to see more people being active and participating in events. We often offer registration ‘packages’ where a runner can register himself and a friend PLUS get a product or service from a local business for a very attractive price.
So how do you fit in as a potential ‘partner?’ What do you have to do to get involved?
1. Promote the races.
All of our partners promote our races in a way that works for their clientele. That may include: signs in storefront windows, mentions on Facebook or in your business blog, flyers available in your shop or added in shopping bags, or links to our site from your website.
2. Participate in the charity promotion.
Whatever charity is chosen for the event will have some kind of ‘real need’ to fill in addition to cash donations. Depending on the race, we may be collecting food, toys, clothes, tutoring hours, textbooks, running shoes, eyeglasses, cellphones, etc. Partners should promote the charity and encourage their employees and patrons to participate in donating to the cause. We’ll help you set up a ‘collection bin’ with signage in your store.
3. Offer something to the race / racers that is of value to the racers (while also showcasing and promoting your business.) What does that mean?? Wow, there are so many options. Here are some suggestions:
§Offer something for each racer to be placed in the pre-race packet.
· Sample product (lotion, tea, etc.)
· Promotional item with your logo/website listing on it (imprinted shoe laces, keychain, hats, pen, etc)
· Coupon which will bring them into your store (buy one get one free is one of the more effective ‘coupons’. 10%-20% off doesn’t usually bring in as much business.
§ Provide a big prize(s)– which could include cash, free product (bottle of wine, pair of shoes, article of clothing, weekend getaway, lift ticket, etc). Partners who offer a large prize get mentioned a lot on our website, Facebook postings, press releases and even in our promotional posters. Large prizes may be given to race winners or to winners of a random drawing out of all of the race day participants.
§ Be onsite at the race providing a sample of your service. This is great for massage therapists, or entertainers like musicians, clowns, face painters, etc.
§ Host an after-race party at your location with some refreshments.
§ Host packet-pick up at your location before the race to get racers into your shop and maybe offer them a deep discount on packet-pick up day.
§ Be a “Vendor Volunteer” If you don’t have a ‘give-away’ (e.g. insurance sales, consultants, website resources, local government agencies, politicians or grassroots campaigns) we encourage relationship building and name recognition. Come to our race and be a Vendor Volunteer.
VENDOR VOLUNTEER:
We don’t sell booth space; we give it away freely with this caveat: All vendors present at our races are there as ‘vendor volunteers’. We want the racers to see you as a person/organization that wants to promote their wellness and encourage them to be active. Here are just some of your ‘vendor volunteer options’. Set up a booth which presents your company for FREE and offer racer support in one of the following ways:
o Water station: large water coolers from which participants come to fill their water bottles (at least enough for 50 racers)
o Fruit station: bananas cut in half (or other fruit of your choosing) (at least enough for 50 racers)
o Bagel/muffin station: bagels and or muffins and any accompaniments (at least enough for 50 racers)
o Granola station: granola treats (bars, cookies, etc) (at least enough for 50 racers)
o Hot Beverage Station: Coffee set up and all accompaniments (enough for all racers)
o Restroom Station: Yes, if you want to cover the cost of a ‘port-a-potty’ then we’ll let you set up your booth to advertise to our racers. No, it doesn’t have to be next to the potty.
o Good, old fashioned, people volunteers: Send a person or two to man your booth and send 2 or more bodies to volunteer as course marshals, registration clerks, check-in and finish line workers, gophers, etc during the event as a service to the race directors
o Other, in-kind sponsorships for the racers or race director such as:
§ Providing scholarships in your company name for racers to register a friend for free ($30 per racer)
§ Photography – post racer and race day photos on the web for download/purchase
§ Sound System (loan it to the race for the event)
§ Signage – if you want to print signs for our events such as “parking, finish, start, mile markers, etc” let’s talk!
We don’t set a ‘suggested retail value’ for participation because our motto is “Do what you can, when you can, with what you have.”If this sounds like something that you want to be involved in, then let’s talk about what you can do with what you have!
